It’s A Plural! Understanding and Supporting Five Core Executive Function Skills

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

When it comes to understanding executive functions, many parents and teachers remain stumped.  Misconceptions about what that term comprises and what can be expected from children at different ages cause confusion and can cloud effective instruction and support services for children who struggle.  This presentation will begin by defining executive functions as being comprised of five core subskills.  We will consider how these develop across the lifespan, resulting in varied and unique learning profiles.  Finally, a framework designed to assist educators with setting individualized intervention goals and instructional supports will be introduced.  Hands-on practice with applying that framework to a range of academic tasks will be provided
